Looking for the latest way to download movies/TV? Check out the tutorial below.
What are sickbeard/couch potato? Sickbeard allows you to select TV shows you like and it will automatically download new episodes as they are available on usenet. Couch potato does the same thing but searches for movies you choose or automatically with movies that reach a certain rating on sites like IMDB. The benefit to this setup is that it will search several NZB sites for the content and pick the best file for download. This setup works great if you leave your computer on all day or have a home server. Usenet is also FAST, maxxing out my 30mbit connection and provides SSL encrypted traffic.
Sick Beard is a PVR for newsgroup users (with limited torrent support). It watches for new episodes of your favorite shows and when they are posted it downloads them, sorts and renames them, and optionally generates metadata for them. It currently supports NZBs.org, NZBMatrix, NZBs’R’Us, Newzbin, Womble’s Index, NZB.su, TVTorrents and EZRSS and retrieves show information from theTVDB.com and TVRage.com.
An automatic NZB and torrent downloader, just fill in what you want to see and CouchPotato will add it to your “want to watch”-list. Every day it will search through multiple NZBs & Torrents sites, looking for the best possible match.
Once a correct release is found, it will send it to your favorite download app.
This program downloads the files from the two programs listed above. Its the equivalent of uTorrent but for usenet with some automation features built in.
This media center works well with a TV/Movie automated setup as it scans for new content in selected folders.
Before following the tutorial you need to get a USENET account, I recommend Astraweb and Newsdemon. Both offer monthly plans and block plans and both offer SSL encryption.
