voidchan

voidchan started out as a splinterchan from Ponychan back in August of 2021 after the removal of the “/ef/” board which was ponychan’s ‘almost anything goes’ sort of board however has since mostly severed ties with its point of origin.

It has a small but dedicated community, a (vanilla) minecraft server (which allows crossplay between Java and Bedrock Edition) and occasional (hopefully more frequent in the future) game-nights (jackbox, gartic phone, vrchat, etc).

Unlike a lot of altchans trying to abide to the “/a/ /b/ /pol/ etc” board standard the community is more laid out based on posting style than posting subject with /void/ being the flagship board and /null/ being an anon posting board as well as a board for planning community events and several hidden boards with the site having an overall space/afterlife stylistic theme to it.

Political posting is not “contained” and moderation is very light-handed save for a few key rules so edgy posting is allowed and unlike a lot of ‘edgy’ chans most of the core community (comprising of weebs, nerds, ex-bronies, etc) is very LGBT-friendly despite no rules against homophobic/transphobic posting.

The site is built on (Circle Puller) Tinyboard(vichan basically) with some custom QoL upgrades and is a comfy place to fun-post for folks who don’t take it all too seriously.

4chon

Founded by SaveTheInternet (STI), 4chon is the remnants of an imageboard community, now administered by HDV, that’s existed throughout various domains on the web. It is now an active single board image board. The site originated from 4chon.net where the tinyboard software came from (which is what vichan forked from and most board owners are using now). There is more history information at: wikibooks.org/wiki/4chan_Chronicle/4chon

2020 – now : 4chon.me

Traffic Lag

Traffic Lag has been listed on here a while, but someone submitted some more information on the site.

Traffic Lag is a Greek message board created in 2008 and has been active since. It was redesigned recently and now only has 1 board /b/. The site has a cult userbase in Greece, but the site seems to convert to English well with google translate.

Frens chan

Frenschan was made for users of 4chan that have become fed up with the excessive amounts of degeneracy plaguing /b/ and /pol/. Fren Chan is a cozy place to post anonymously and a safe haven for free speech.

Kissu

Kissu hosts a regularly archived happening thread running from 2019 to present. Said thread sometimes shows up when people want to document significant imageboard events. https://kissu.moe/qa/thread/4165. One such instance that might be of interest is https://www.reddit.com/r/guro/comments/lmh7dj/update_on_gurochan_drama_and_kuz/, although take the reddit post with a grain of salt, the guy is known to create drama about himself for some reason.
Site discusses otaku culture, imageboard meta and technology. Sharing images and video links in various threads. Also casual discussion. When discussing real world events we try to stay as close to documenting them as possible.

Kissu was created in 2018 from otaku and meta posters who left 4chan’s /qa/ board.

In 2020 I started reworking the user interface following difficulties with the Vichan-UI upon updating updating to PHP7.4. Feeling that Kissu needed modernization, a unique theme and software to stand out from the rest I began a long task of creating a contemporary imageboard user interface from scratch. Inspired by 4ChanX, it was a Javascript only UI written in ReactJS. I adopted many of the tools that are used by the popular 4ChanX extension and gave it my own taste.
The vichan engine has been modified too to allow for polling on /poll/ and upvoting (only) on /ec/.
